We keep our gear in a shipping container. Every so often we need to sort it out. It’s been two years and we had most of the kit on the playground.
Scouts were on the Wye tonight learning canoe skills in preparation for the Exped Paddle. It was a very wet evening.
The Scouts took part in a District Night Hike with various bases. Great fun.
Sam and Mark went down to Ferny Crofts, a Scout Campsite in The New Forest. to gain rafting permits. Gorgeous weather, but the midges were out. It’s a great campsite.
Restrictions were relaxed in the Autumn and we held a few socially distanced meetings with Cubs and Scouts. We managed to run an afternoon of archery and tomahawk throwing for Scouts and a session of airgun target shooting before the lockdown was reimposed in January.
We arranged another Sub Aqua TriDive in Lydney Pool for Scouts and Explorers in January. More of our Scouts took part. Adults also had a go.
We completed a canoe expedition down the Wye in July 2018. We started at Luckshall campsite and paddled to Hoarwithy on the Saturday. Scouts cooked the evening meal then had a relaxing evening around the campfire. We struck camp and continued the paddle to Ross on the Sunday.
We ran a scuba experience session (Tri-Dive) in the Lydney Leisure Centre pool in January. Several scouts had a go and one has continued with the sport to complete all the training and hours necessary to qualify as a PADI open water diver.
