Container Sorting

We keep our gear in a shipping container. Every so often we need to sort it out. It’s been two years and we had most of the kit on the playground.

Canoeing Skills

Scouts were on the Wye tonight learning canoe skills in preparation for the Exped Paddle. It was a very wet evening.

Our First Squirrels session. They are just as much Scouts as any other age range.

The Scouts took part in a District Night Hike with various bases. Great fun.

GoCardless for Subs

We’re gradually moving from Standing Orders to subs collected through GoCardless and Online Scout Manager.

Rafting Permits

Sam and Mark went down to Ferny Crofts, a Scout Campsite in The New Forest. to gain rafting permits. Gorgeous weather, but the midges were out. It’s a great campsite.

Christmas 2020 Scouting

Restrictions were relaxed in the Autumn and we held a few socially distanced meetings with Cubs and Scouts. We managed to run an afternoon of archery and tomahawk throwing for Scouts and a session of airgun target shooting before the lockdown was reimposed in January.

Online Scouting 2020

Well, 2020 turned out to be a rather unusual Scouting year. With a Covid lockdown being implemented in March, all “normal” face to face scouting ceased and we had to find new ways of continuing our scouting activities. Every 4 years the Forest of Dean Scout District takes a contingent of Scouts, Explorers and Adults to the Haarlem Jamborette in the Netherlands. Cub Camp May 2019

The Cub Leaders planned an excellent Harry Potter themed Cub camp in the Deerpark. The activities included: wand making, spells, potions, and a real-life Quidditch match. We had a fantastic time.
